THE PRACTICE

WE DO NOT ACCEPT INSURANCE - WE ARE A FEE-FOR-SERVICE OFFICE
Our Practice

We are a family run practice of Internal Medicine and have been based in the village of La Jolla since 1979. We practice quality medicine with an emphasis on prevention. Our patients' health and wellbeing is our foremost concern. It is for this reason that we require an annual physical with comprehensive laboratory testing and EKG of all patients over the age of 35.

An annual exam is designed to prevent and detect as early as possible, diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems and also cancer. At the same time we review our patients' diet and exercise programs and make recommendations to optimize health and longevity. During the exam we also determine the need for any additional testing such as X-rays, MRI's and other imaging studies.

Our Doctors
Eva M. Abbo, M.D.

Dr. Eva Abbo has been in private practice for Internal Medicine in La Jolla since 1980. She did her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Iowa after graduating from Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich Germany. Her practice is geared to prevention of diseases by teaching and encouraging a healthy life style. She is particularly interested in  healthy dietary approaches since it has been shown to be just as or more effective than medications in a number of chronic diseases such as high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes. Over the years through her extensive travels she has studied the local cuisines and adapted numerous healthy yet tasty recipes for the everyday cook.

Fred E. Abbo, M.D., Ph.D.

Michelle M. Abbo, M.D.

Dr. Michelle Abbo went to medical school at the University of Connecticut, and completed her residency at UCLA, Harbor (UCLA's hospital for the uninsured). She joined her parents' practice in 2007.

She focuses her practice on prevention and prefers to treat with non-medicinal measures whenever possible. She also likes to be extremely thorough, and believes that screening tests and imaging, such as mammograms and colonoscopies, save lives.

Dr. Michelle feels that her role as a physician is that of an advisor, and that the decision making process must be made by both herself and the patient. She respects the different approaches her patients take on managing and treating problems, and she tries to be as accommodating and open minded as possible.
